I’ve been asked countless times “What’s the secret to making personal development last?”
And here’s the short and simple answer: Keep doing it.
Can you recall a time when you ate a delicious, nourishing meal and felt sated and content? Then, later that day, you felt hungry again…
Did you think, “Well that didn’t work! I’m right back where I was. There must have been something wrong with that food! I just won’t bother eating anymore”?
Of course not. It’s laughable, isn’t it? And yet I have heard people say things like that about nourishing their mind and spirit.
“I made a shift last week and felt “wellbeing”, but now life has presented me new challenges and here I am struggling again. See… that shift I made, it didn’t work.”
THAT is insane, don’t you think?
Personal work is like eating. Just because you ate earlier today doesn’t mean you’re ‘done’ eating, does it?
And there’s nothing ‘wrong’ with you for being hungry, is there? It’s not a flaw – it’s simply a facet of the human experience.
The same goes for personal growth. We nourish our bodies daily, so let’s do the same for our minds and spirits.
